OceanTech FB-70E Fluidised Bed Filter

OceanTech FB-70E Fluidised Bed Filter

The OceanTech FB-70E Fluidised Bed Filter is an aquarium filtration solution designed to support biological filtration and help maintain good water quality. Fluidised bed filters use a moving bed of filter media to provide a surface for beneficial bacteria, which help break down toxic ammonia and nitrite produced by fish waste and uneaten food.

When properly installed and maintained, this type of filter can complement an aquarium’s existing filtration system and support a healthier aquatic environment. The FB-70E is suitable for aquarium setups that require additional biological filtration capacity.

Key Features

• Biological Filtration: Provides a surface for beneficial bacteria that help process ammonia and nitrite.
• Fluidised Media Design: Water movement keeps the filter media circulating during operation.
• Supports Water Quality: Helps maintain a stable aquarium environment when used with appropriate mechanical filtration and regular maintenance.
• Suitable for Aquarium Systems: Can be used as part of a suitable freshwater or marine filtration setup.
• Ideal for Additional Filtration: Helps increase biological filtration capacity in compatible aquarium systems.

How It Works

Water is circulated through the filter chamber, keeping the suitable filter media in motion and allowing beneficial bacteria to colonise its surface. These bacteria help convert harmful ammonia into nitrite and then nitrate as part of the aquarium’s biological filtration cycle.

Installation & Maintenance

Install the filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions and use a compatible pump to provide the required water flow. Select suitable filter media for your aquarium system and monitor the filter regularly to ensure proper circulation and performance.
