Narrowleaf Sagittaria (Sagittaria subulata) is a grass-like plant with roots and, as its name states, several long, narrow, green leaves. It can be grown emersed or submersed and it propagates prolifically through runners, plus it can develop an extra stem that will flower just above the surface of the water. This versatile plant can eventually grow to a height of 20 inches (51 cm), so it is ideal as a mid-ground or background plant, depending on the size and height of the aquarium. Tall Narrowleaf Sagittaria can even live in brackish water.
