Cultivation Requirements:
•Lighting: High-intensity lighting is essential, approximately 0.5 to 1 watt per liter, to promote vibrant coloration and healthy growth.
•CO₂ and Nutrients: Supplemental CO₂ and a balanced nutrient regimen are crucial. Maintaining nitrate levels around 5–15 mg/l and phosphate levels between 1–2 mg/l supports optimal development. Regular iron and micronutrient supplementation prevent deficiencies, which can manifest as whitish new shoots.
•Growth Characteristics: Under favorable conditions, Cuban Ludwigia exhibits rapid growth and a highly branched structure. Due to its size and growth rate, it’s best suited for midground or background placement in larger aquariums. The plant does not respond well to frequent or intensive trimming; it’s advisable to replant cut-off shoots rather than leaving trimmed stems, as the latter may deteriorate.
